A few days ago, I watched Wicked and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I figured I would like it, but wow, they really knocked the ball out of the park with this movie. It was almost 3 hours long, yet I still found myself wanting more. Mnior Spoiler Warning This following post will contain minor spoilers for the movie Wicked. Shiz University Watching Wicked was such an immersive experience for me.

Although I mainly play Neopets for enjoyment, it’s interesting to think about what I’ve learned from it. Especially from playing it at such a young age all the way to today. I’ve heard other players say that Neopets introduced them to web development and it’s now their full-time job, while others have honed their art and writing skills through Neopets’ site competitions. So, I thought I’d compile a list of life skills that Neopets can help teach:

SZA has been my top artist on Spotify Wrapped for about four years in a row now. I like to joke and say that she got me through the pandemic. “Normal Girl” and “Special” are two of my favorite songs by her since I like how they’re connected; “Special” serves as the aftermath of “Normal Girl.” As the titles suggest, SZA longs to be a normal girl in the one song, while desiring to be special in the other.

BouncingBlumaroo’s Backstory Ever since a young age, BouncingBlumaroo (aka Bouncy) has possessed the ability to see into the future. Unlike other clairvoyants whose visions contained more insightful prophecies, the most exciting prediction Bouncy made was when he foresaw his local baker hosting a 5% discount on bread. Alas, every future he sees into is incredibly dull. Many of his fellow Marquans grew tired of his antics. The novelty of Bouncy’s precognition wore off quickly when people were getting bored of predictions like, “You will be a few minutes late to work tomorrow because of traffic.

After regaining access to my old Neopets account, I had an itch for playing more virtual pet sites. Tattered World was one that I found in 2018 but only started playing again recently. Lore Tattered World has an interesting backstory where the Unmaker tore apart the fabric of reality, making the world “tattered” and leaving behind Threads. Threads are the “formless debris of the destroyed world”. Little creatures called Kith then started appearing from the Threads.

Continuing on my nostalgia journey, I just logged into my old side account on Graal for the first time in about 6-7 years. I played it a lot during 2013-2016. I lost my main account though since it was attached to an old email I deleted a while ago. Luckily, I was able to get back into my side account.
